What is Neuropathy?

If you are reading this, then you probably have the unfortunate luck of experiencing neuropathy yourself. However, if you don’t know, neuropathy is a condition that affects the nerves in our body. Nerves are like tiny wires that carry messages between our brain and different parts of our body, such as our hands, feet, and other organs.

In neuropathy, these nerves become damaged or don’t work properly. This can cause various symptoms such as pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness in the affected areas. It’s like when a wire gets damaged, and you might experience a problem with your TV or phone.

Neuropathy can happen for different reasons, such as diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, infections, or certain medications. Sometimes, the cause is just unknown. It can affect one nerve or many nerves throughout your body.

The symptoms of neuropathy can vary from person to person. Some may feel a burning sensation or sharp pain, while others may have difficulty feeling things with their hands or feet. It can also lead to problems with balance and coordination.

While most treatment for neuropathy depends on the underlying cause, such as controlling blood sugar levels in diabetes, there is another similar therapy that can help those with neuropathy regardless of where their neuropathy is stemming from. That treatment is called Photobiomodulation (PBMT).

What is Photobiomodulation?

Photobiomodulation is more commonly known at ‘Red Light Therapy’, and it is a therapy that uses light to help the body heal and function better. It’s like giving the body a boost with special light energy!

It is not a new therapy – it has been used in medical treatments for over a hundred years – but has been gaining more popularity within the last ten years. Studies continue to show over and over the amazing impact PBMT has on the body.

Common benefits seen after using Red Light are wrinkle reduction and other skin improvements like acne reduction, improved eye sight, fat loss, improved sleep, and a boosted immune system. Other diseases that Red Light is used to treat are Alzheimer’s, Hashimoto’s and other thyroid diseases, Eczema and diabetes. There are more studies being done all the time on other diseases – even cancer.

How does it work?

When the light reaches our cells, it does a few different things. It increases blood flow, which means more oxygen and nutrients reach your tissues. This helps the body heal and repair itself. The light can also reduce inflammation, which is when parts of our body become swollen and irritated. By reducing inflammation, PBMT can ease pain and promote healing. Additionally, the light can stimulate our cells to produce more energy. This extra energy helps our cells work better and speeds up the healing process. Overall, photobiomodulation uses special light to improve the body’s natural healing abilities. It’s like giving our body a gentle push to recover and feel better.

Natural And Non-Pharmacological Neuropathy Relief With Red Light Therapy

Photobiomodulation is a therapy that uses light to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. When it comes to neuropathy, photobiomodulation can be very beneficial!

It has been observed that PBMT is able to accelerate the process of nerve regeneration. This causes an improvement in physical function of the afflicted body part. It also causes your body to start working on fixing the issue on its own with the immune system. The high success rate has given patients a decrease of pain and inflammation. Giving them a much better quality of living!

Red Light Therapy Helps Neuropathy in Several Ways:

Pain relief: Photobiomodulation can stimulate the release of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals produced by the body. These endorphins can help alleviate the pain associated with neuropathy.

Enhanced nerve function: The light energy absorbed by the cells in the nerves triggers various cellular reactions. It promotes the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is the energy currency of cells. This ATP fuels the nerve cells, helping them function optimally and potentially accelerating their healing process.

Reduced inflammation: Neuropathy often involves inflammation in the affected nerves. Photobiomodulation can help reduce this inflammation by stimulating cellular activity and modulating the release of certain chemicals that promote inflammation.

Increased blood flow: The light energy promotes the dilation of blood vessels, improving blood circulation in the affected area. This enhanced blood flow delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the nerves, supporting their repair and reducing pain.

PBMT helps nerves heal faster and work better by releasing substances called growth factors that promote cell growth and healing. It also increases blood vessels and collagen, which are important for healing. Studies have shown that PBMT has positive effects on recovering from nerve damage, improving nerve function, and promoting faster healing, even with different settings and methods used.

In summary, getting natural and non-pharmacological neuropathy relief with Red Light Therapy is achievable! It has been proven to work and has no side effects when used correctly. Red Light Therapy uses light energy to increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, improve nerve function, and relieve pain. By promoting these positive effects, Red Light Therapy can help improve neuropathy symptoms and support the healing of damaged nerves.

I have been using the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for the last few weeks and It has helped me so much. I struggle quite a bit with work related stress. When I'm in the chamber I feel completely relaxed, so much so that I can bring my laptop inside and work without stressing. The calmness I feel in the chamber lasts for the remainder of the day as well. I have found too, the more consistent I am with sessions throughout the week the better I feel. The office staff seems well trained in running the tanks too, so I feel safe. I see Dr. Kilcup as well for my brain and gut health. Until now, I don't think I've ever known what "normal" or "healthy" feels like. Thank you all, sincerely!

I am very grateful to have found Dr. Kilcup and be his patient for the last couple of years. He has helped me restore my health back after being exposed to toxic mold for years. He helped identify and treat all of my symptoms I was experiencing and address the root problem. I was looking for the right person who could help me heal with natural therapies and supplements and Dr. Kilcup was the perfect fit. Every appointment and session was necessary and one step towards all the progress I made. Dr. Kilcup is a great functional medicine doctor who was also an advocate for my own health and well-being. I never received any care or attention to detail from other Doctors in past experiences except with Dr. Kilcup. Anyone who is seeking a holistic path towards healing or improving their own health should see him.
