The comprehensive stool analysis is a very important test that I order on patients with conditions ranging from Leaky Gut Syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Hiatal Hernias, ADHD and Hormone Imbalance Problems.
The comprehensive stool analysis gives us objective scientific answers to the following questions:
- Is there enough and the right balance of probiotics?
- Are there any bacterial infections and what will eradicate the infection?
- Is there a parasitic infection?
- Is there a yeast infection?
- Is the patient’s digestion working?
- Is the digestive tract inflamed?
- Is the immune system in the digestive tract working?
If any of these answers is not good, it is a major problem for my patient. The good news is that once we understand the problems in the digestive tract we can begin to fix them.
It is literally IMPOSSIBLE for you to have great health if your digestive tract is not working well. I can’t think of any health issue that isn’t made worse or caused by an unhealthy intestinal tract.
So how can you tell whether you have an intestinal problem? Usually there are symptoms like constipation, diarrhea, bloating, tummy cramps and gas. To my surprise, I have seen patients who did not have intestinal symptoms whose comprehensive stool analysis came back with significant problems. For this reason the comprehensive stool analysis is often one of the tests I recommend for my patients.
Recently I was interviewed about this test by Erin Peisach, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who treats a lot of intestinal problems. I was honored by the invitation to talk about a subject we are both very interested in.
In this interview I will go over the comprehensive stool analyses of four patients I’ve treated. I think you will be surprised at how many different kinds of results this test can show. Getting an accurate understanding of what is wrong in the intestines, and then fixing it, can be life changing.
