One of the things I want to know about my patients is how healthy their immune system is. The tests tell the story. Often I see a depleted, weakened immune system which can lead to a multitude of problems.
The Deficiencies that can lead to a Compromised Immune System
- Vitamin D – this is super common!!
- Vitamin A
- Vitamin E
- Zinc
- Vitamins B9/folate & B12 (homocysteine and methylmalonic acid)
- Glutathione
- Magnesium
Vitamin E is an essential nutrient that has a variety of health benefits.1 It supports the immune system, contributes to eye, brain and skin health, helps maintain healthy skin and eyes, strengthens the body’s natural defence against illness and infection (the immune system), improves cognitive function and even protects against some cancers.0
Zinc is an essential mineral that plays a major role in many bodily functions and systems such as the immune system, wound healing, blood clotting, thyroid function and the senses of taste and smell.0 It is a trace mineral that the body only needs small amounts to function properly; however it is necessary for almost 100 enzymes to carry out vital chemical reactions.1
